So I’m taking a holiday break and I’m working on a middle-grade children’s chapter book about who gets to occupy space; when; where; why; and how — and who gets to decide that. It’s been brewing for awhile, and was further inspired by a real-life incident that happened while I was teaching bike skills to two girls recently in the most diverse square mile in the USA.
I always design a visual when I work on something new just to help me focus, so above is my working cover for now (which uses an actual photo of an actual sign that I pass while Traveling at the Speed of Bike — and, yes, that’s my bike named Magic).
A dream is a goal with a deadline. Therefore, in January when I comeback from my break, I’m gonna try to limit my posts here (beyond my weekly Metro Atlanta Bicycle Mayor ones) to under 100 words so I can save most of my words for this book. My goal is April 1 for having a first draft.
