“Best of 2017”: this

36162728031_5965e1fcce_oThis is the happiest place in Atlanta; perhaps in the world. It’s the Centennial Olympic Rings fountain in downtown Atlanta, directly across from CNN Center, where I worked for four years when I relocated from New York City right before Atlanta was announced as host of the Centennial Olympic Games. I was on the highway on the way to work when that announcement came. We all stuck our arms out our car windows and cheered. I now ride my bike downtown to this spot frequently and it only takes five minutes before I am smiling from ear to ear while watching people run through the fountain. It never fails to delight me and lift whatever heavy load my heart is carrying. I also never fail to remember my older daughter, now 22 and living in L.A. (host to the 2028 Olympic Games), marching around as a toddler chanting “Go USA!”

And that’s that for our look back at 2017. See here for more, if interested.
