It was inspired by meeting an osteosarcoma survivor while I was running a nonprofit named Hattitudes with my older daughter*. Fun fact: I taught myself to ride a unicycle in order to write this.
* We collected and donated new hats to girls undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer at six children’s hospitals nationwide.
