Bears repeating

I first published this a year and a half ago. It bears repeating as things in our country seem to have gotten worse, and I see what I oppose very clearly now. This poem is called The ABC Quick Check for a Runaway World.

The ABC Quick Check is a little pre-ride bike check that we League Cycling Instructors beat into you as a habit. But, truth be told, sometimes it’s all I can do to breathe when I get on a bike — a big reason I ride is to reduce the anxiety I feel about our changing world, and an almost-daily ride is essential for that. My tension drops almost as soon as my first foot hits the pedal. It’s like my little miracle machine.
