Thank you for the lovely emails, texts, and notes you’ve been sending as you’re finishing reading my newly-released book, Round Ireland with a Duck — my solo female journey in search of roots and wings (the sequel to Round America with a Duck). Sharing my heart with the world, and seeing who the words were destined to reach, remains one of the great joys of publishing books.
It’s magical, really, how we can still connect in a country-at-a-crossroads and a world-in-crisis. Maybe you laughed about the caribou sale, or felt the gut punch when I heard the bus driver’s name. Or perhaps, more likely (based on the many comments I’ve been getting), you wondered if you could do the things you’ve been scared to do, say the things you’ve been afraid to admit, and put the ducks in life in a row, finally. Those things.
Yes. Yes, you can. Your eight-year-old self will be so proud of you. And your 80-year-old self will one day thank you.
Our time is limited. The window closes. Go. Do. Now.
You got this. Trust the journey.
