“The City,” from Tip to Tip

After 19 hours on Amtrak with my folding bike, I rode Manhattan (just called “The City” to those of us from there) from tip to tip (George Washington Bridge to Battery Park) and everywhere in between, day after day. I also rode subways, buses, and ferries. I was in town for the actual 100th anniversary day of my grandfather’s arrival from Ireland at Ellis Island.

While in New York, I continued launching my new book, Round Ireland with a Duck. (Parts of the book take place in and around New York City.)

I then hightailed it out to Long Island for my stepmom’s 92nd birthday and to help her and my dad out a bit.

Then (after a walk on the High Line in the rain), back on Amtrak, just in time to miss the nor’easter due to hit there today.

Home again, home again, jiggedy jig, it was straight out to the food pantry garden to water and tend.

And then, this morning, right away, an email to my local city hall because they are approving traffic sign changes this week and I want to make sure some bike sign changes are added.

Now? Off to yoga. I’m happy to be ommmmmmmm.
