So I rolled up to the food pantry garden on my bike and uncoiled the hose. As I stood there watering the lettuces, turnip greens, and chard, I got to thinking (as one does).
A lot has happened for all of us these past few years. Personally, I know I’ve just been through a major crossroads. I know I’ve eliminated many things, places, and relationships from my life that are neither serving me anymore nor providing me with the most effective way to serve others.
But there are still some more to prune. This blog is one of them.
This is my 50th post this year — including a steady flow of posts this past week but a significantly-reduced annual number of posts from previous years (since I was busy writing and producing my new book most of the year). It is the 1,595th post since I started this blog years ago. It has been good to have, following years writing a blog named Foodshed Planet. There is lots of good stuff here that you may find helpful. Don’t miss the people doing good. And don’t lose hope.
In all honesty, however, I don’t have much more to say publicly in English* that I haven’t already said either here or on my other blogs or in my books. So, it’s time to let this go for awhile. It’s time to just water the actual and proverbial gardens in my life and see how they — and I — grow next.
I will be on a sabbatical from all blogs and social media for all of 2026. New things are happening, and much more is germinating. Thank you for joining me for however long we got to enjoy traveling at the speed of bike together. May you always travel at a pace where you can look humanity in the face, and in doing so, be reminded of your own humanity as well — at a time that’s needed more than ever.
Trust the journey,
Pattie
