A woman riding a Citibike bikeshare bike in New York City was run over by a truck driver this week. She was seriously injured but miraculously not killed, unlike the two previous people riding bikeshare (one in Chicago, one in NYC) killed by truck drivers. I offer prayers for her recovery, hope for changes to be made, and a desire for justice to be served.
I’ve been lucky during my Citibike rides, but take a look at chapter two in my book about when that truck driver almost hit me here in my “family friendly” suburb city.
Note: I’m scheduled to teach a bike class this morning. I realize I spend most of my time teaching people how not to get killed by drivers. There has to be a better way, folks.
