You can still join

fullsizeoutput_b85We’re more than halfway through #Biketober and the #NationalBikeChallenge and it has been really fun. I’ve ridden with new people and in new places, and sometimes just around the block (can you say pouring rain?) or for a quick five miles on bikeshare after a doctor visit (pictured). I’m hoping to win that trip to Italy or maybe just the portable pizza oven! More importantly, I hope to help more folks get out on bike.

You can still get in on the fun and prizes! Sign up for your local version of the National Bike Challenge. Then, just log rides of at least ten minutes on two or three days before Oct. 30 and you’d have enough points for a chance for prizes (you get 20 points a day plus a point per mile and you need 50 points for a chance to win). The Atlanta-area site is lovetoride.net. Our team (Trust the Journey) is full (and rockin’!) but you can start or join another team.

If you or someone you know could use a lesson or two to feel more in control on the bike during #Biketober and beyond, I offer private classes specifically for women Sunday and Tuesday mornings. (I just taught a woman yesterday who had never ridden a bike in her life! She hopes to ride around the Pacific Northwest on a big family trip next year. The word “liberated” was said as she pedaled away from me.)

I’m also in the process of templating some what I’ve learned teaching this past year to be scalable to other communities and organizations nationwide. Stay tuned!
