You may have heard about the implosion of the Georgia Dome yesterday. You can see it in the far distance in this photo. The closer stadium is the brand-new Mercedes Benz Stadium (which is the first LEED Platinum professional sports stadium, by the way).
As you can see, the sidewalk across the street from the stadium is a disaster. Plus, there is no separated or protected bike access on any road leading to the stadium. My hope is that this will all get better (the footprint of the imploded dome is slated to become a public greenspace, although illustrations of the final plan show cars parked on the grass — go figure). The good news? There is a free bike valet (provided by the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition) when you arrive.
