I did

Since the waves of #MeToo trauma just keep repeating themselves and we’re all sharing yet again, I did report it. I went to HR. I went to a lawyer. I lost my career. Good things have happened since (and someone involved apologized to me many, many years later), but I’ll never know what could have been. I’m not blaming anyone today. But I am the mother of daughters. And this sh*t stops now.

(Also, we all have dozens of these stories. There are a handful of bike-related ones in my book as well, as safe access to public space is a definite issue. Many women tell me they have used their bikes as “getaway vehicles,” as did I, from as early as when they were young girls.)
