The Sprouts supermarket less than a mile from my home is closing December 23, after a five-year lease. I go there almost daily, often while Traveling at the Speed of Bike. Based on this calculation, I figure I’ve spent more than $25,000 there. They got their money’s worth with that bike rack.
The ride to and from there requires BikeNoodle (as pictured) because it is not safe to ride otherwise, nor is there any plan in my suburb-city’s recently-adopted Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update to make it safe to ride to any business in that shopping center in the next twenty years*. So although I’m deeply sorry to see Sprouts close (and to divert my shopping dollars now to another city, where I’ll have to drive), perhaps this store closure actually saves my life. Who knows. As always, I trust the journey.
