Here’s a video from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at the Truly Living Well Center’s previous urban farm in the Old Fourth Ward section of the City of Atlanta, right in the shadow of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park (which has been closed due to the Government Shutdown and is currently open today and through the Super Bowl due to a grant from Delta Airlines). This urban farm was relocated (including 125 fruit trees, miraculously) to the Westside of Atlanta three years ago. I ride my bike by this spot often (where the intended senior housing, which was the reason for the farm’s relocation, hasn’t happened yet) and remember how much food, and food-for-thought, used to grow there.
Here’s my photo album with photos from both the old and the new farms. I need to get over there again soon and see what’s been growing.
