I was there to bear witness this past Saturday at the dedication of the newest ghost bike in the USA, for a 17-year-old girl who was killed while riding her bike home from the supermarket where she worked in Winder, Georgia. Pictured are her sister Toya; Dave Mathews, the man who runs the nonprofit Bike Friendly Atlanta that dedicates these ghost bikes in the southeastern USA (this is his 85th); and Rick, the man who gave permission for the ghost bike to be on his property (in front of which you can still see the police markings).
I wrote a piece about it that I’m submitting for publication elsewhere. If they pass on it, I’ll publish it here. So, in other words, check back in a few days.
