Bikeshare has had a “moment” this past year during the pandemic. It has exploded in popularity in cities where people, including many healthcare workers, are using it in place of buses and trains; to support local businesses; and to improve their mental and physical health at a time when that’s literally life-saving.
If you live or travel somewhere that had the insight to keep its bikeshare system up and running (and perhaps even expanded it), then consider giving it a try. (Note: It has been removed — temporarily? — from some places, specifically here in Metro Atlanta suburb cities such as Alpharetta and Suwanee, so check online before you head on out there).
You may find you fall in love with Traveling at the Speed of Bike again — or for the first time. You may even fall in love with your city again, and maybe even yourself :). If you’re looking for a “date” with a loved one on Valentine’s Day, why not share the love on bikeshare?
Tip: Carry disinfecting wipes with you to wipe down anything you might touch on the bike or the bikeshare station, and use hand sanitizer afterwards. Or wear gloves.
