Meet Ben

Meet Ben. He was yesterday’s Today’s Nice Stranger. He ran the Peachtree Road Race (which was split into two days this year due to COVID) and then rode his bike home from the train. He is a retired medical doctor, and he wants to see more people ride bikes.

Ben lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and told me drivers of motor vehicles often yell at him to get off the road. Other cyclists sometimes tease him when they see him take the sidewalk occasionally.

He is taking a creative writing class at the Sandy Springs Library and will be writing an article about his day (I’ll see if I can get it to share with you). He has run the race about ten times, and he says it gets harder each time for him. Riding a bike continues to make him feel like a kid, however.
