Free Weekly Bike Ride!

Want to be part of the biggest bike boom since the 1970s but not comfortable on our dangerous roads? Join the BikeBloom! — a casual, welcoming bike ride that sees and celebrates YOU.

This weekly ride, specifically designed for women and girls (who are under-represented in our public spaces for many fixable reasons)*, is led by a League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructor (one of only five women in the State of Georgia) and mother of two daughters. It is 100% separated from motor vehicle traffic, shady from the summer sun, and gently hilly so it provides an interesting hour-long two-mile ride. There is zero pressure to move beyond the park while you get the chance to dust off bike skills you may not have used in awhile, grow your skills if you’re new to traveling at the speed of bike, make new friends, and have fun.

Meet at the gorgeous new bike rack (by local artist Huelani Mei) midway down the main road after you enter Brook Run Park from North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody, Georgia, USA (see photo below). Bring a bike or adaptive cycle that fits you with working brakes and at least three gears — or an e-bike/cycle! Bring a water bottle. There are multiple water fountains and bathrooms along the route. Feel free to “tap out” at any time if you’ve had enough. (This ride is free and you assume all risks by participating. No tickets required.)

If you do not know how to ride a bike at all or you want additional Smart Cycling bike skills education, see the free Pedal Power with Pattie classes here, the first in the world offered via text, downloadable PDF and TikTok. These free rides and classes are funded by proceeds from the sale of the book Traveling at the Speed of Bike and BikeBloom upcycled bike tube earrings. Thank you for your support. If you are a local business that wants to provide free offers or discounts to ride participants, please email sustainablepattie@comcast.net. Find out why #BikesMeanBusiness, especially when ridden by women, here.

Trust the journey,

Pattie
