We Go Together!

Bikes and buses go together! A poll I took yesterday during my PeopleForBikes Instagram takeover (I’m running their RideSpot Stories — follow for Day 2!) shows that 72% of responding bikey people have never combined these two powerhouses, however.

I didn’t ask why — maybe they live somewhere there aren’t public buses or their buses don’t have bike racks. I do know, anecdotally, that many people don’t try the bike racks on the bus because they don’t know how and are nervous about the pressure of doing it quickly while the bus is en route. Soooo, I asked sweet Anthony, one of my four bus drivers yesterday, if he would show y’all how to do it! (Note: I had my folding bike with me yesterday, which I brought directly onto the bus). Thanks, Anthony!

Anthony was already tipped off to my TikToks as he had noticed me filming this one prior to his arrival:

Here is one I filmed a while ago that shows how to load/unload your bike on a bus with an actual bike:

After 41 total miles traveled yesterday and a bunch of miles two days earlier as well during my #OneDucksJourney pilot test, all I know is that I can go more places with the one-two punch of bike and buses. Join me, especially if your starting place (like mine*) is dangerous by design. Also help support PeopleForBikes, which is trying to change lack of access-for-all across the USA. See how your city rates here.

HERE IS MY CITY’S RATING WITH PEOPLEFORBIKES. HERE IS THE MEDIA RELEASE THAT’S NEEDED– AND POSSIBLE –RIGHT NOW, TODAY.
