This is Shacky. I took this photo for Day 143 of a photography project I did five years ago titled Around Atlanta in 180 Days, when my younger daughter first started going to school near this spot and I started riding my bike all over the damn place. Shacky was right next to an old gas station, and a sign there indicated that a greenway was coming. I just saw that that greenway, named the East Decatur Greenway, is celebrating its grand opening this upcoming Monday.
Moral? Time passes. Change happens. Big thanks to all the people who obviously stayed on top of this one to ensure that the greenway came to fruition. I look forward to Traveling at the Speed of Bike beyond Shacky to see what wonders those woods hold. Plus, there used to be mulberries near there, and it’s just about mulberry season.
See here for links to buy my book, Traveling at the Speed of Bike, on Amazon in all global markets. I’m an indie author and your support is greatly appreciated. A portion of proceeds from the sale of all books is donated to help more women and girls ride bikes. Currently, that means funding my ability to do “Pedal Power with Pattie” Basic Bike Skills Classes for Women for free.
