The Atlanta Streetcar (Streety), which relaunched three and a half years ago, will be under new management starting this Sunday, July 1 as the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) takes over its operations.
In honor of this momentous occasion, I did another photo session while riding Streety this week and also (as usual) took photos while Traveling at the Speed of Bike along the route. That puts us at 1,163 photos now in my A Streetcar Named Aspire photo essay. See for yourself how little has actually changed.
For the record, I continue to love Streety and ride it on average about once a week. You may enjoy the poem I wrote for Streety’s three-year anniversary, titled Jesus Still Saves, which commemorates some of the highlights along the route.
Good luck, MARTA. I’ll continue bearing witness as Streety aspires to enliven businesses, entice tourists, and engage citizens.
