This is Ella. She is from Kenya. She “got lost in the shuffle” somehow and never learned to ride a bike in her native country when all the boys learned to ride. She says her girlfriends, who come from all over, have similar stories. Despite college degrees. Despite supportive families. Despite good jobs and notable promotions.
Today Ella rode a bike. And that’s where this story starts, not just for Ella but also for me. There was something kind of life-changing about meeting Ella today. I’m not sure how yet.
I see Ella for her second lesson in a few weeks. Stay tuned.
