Oh, my goodness, The New York Times Style editors! This is kismet. Earlier this week, Bill Cunningham, and today, Gay Talese? The only two names I didn’t change in my new book, Traveling at the Speed of Bike, are Bill Cunningham and Gay Talese. I’d love you to read what happened when I met with him at his home (and to tell you what happened next — hint: I actually got to ride bikes with his daughter around the Lower East Side), but don’t read it yet, okay? My copy of the book for him hasn’t arrived yet and I want to send it to him personally first (and to Catherine, as well), so hold off. In fact, let me know if you want me to send you a copy, too (The New York Times is mentioned maybe twelve times in the book, I think). It would be my great honor.
