This bikey thing is starting to really add up. My first year as a League Cycling Instructor, I was paid to teach seniors-on-trikes and an earn-a-bike class for youth-in-need (plus a few bike rodeos for kids).
My second year, I donated these classes with proceeds from the sale of my latest book, Traveling at the Speed of Bike, to these amazing women (who found me through my class listing on Eventbrite, so they were all strangers to me, which is extra cool).
My third year is shaping up to include being paid as a bike tour guide, expanding my classes nationwide through my 50 Women Over 50 Back on Bike initiative, and perhaps offering private classes at market rates locally. I may also pitch some articles to some bikey and other magazines and get back into feature writing (I had taken a break while writing the book). Plus the fiction thing continues. And bike mechanic school still lurks as a possibility (I have so, so much to learn yet).
And so, as Willy Wonka so eloquently put it , “Yes. Good. On We Go.” To a world of pure imagination that has somehow come to life. #TrustTheJourney.
